Automatic Terminal Info Service (ATIS)

An Automatic Terminal Information Service (ATIS) is a continuous, automated broadcast used at real-world airports to provide pilots with essential, up-to-date operational information before takeoff or landing. This includes active runway assignments, wind direction and speed, visibility, cloud conditions, altimeter settings, and any important notices affecting airport operations. Pilots use ATIS to brief themselves before contacting air traffic control so they can operate safely and efficiently without congesting radio communications.

In Panther Den, ATIS is implemented at select coalition airbases to increase realism and immersion, ensuring players operate with real-world aviation discipline. In addition to the radio broadcast, our script places markers on the F10 Command Map at key bases, providing the same information in written form—especially active runway direction and airfield conditions.

This system is designed to ensure players respect active runway (RWY) usage at all times. Taking off or landing in the opposite direction of the assigned ATIS runway creates unnecessary conflicts with other players and operational traffic flow, and may result in administrative intervention or disciplinary action from staff.

Together with RealWeather and METAR integration, ATIS makes each airbase a structured, living environment where preparation, awareness, and adherence to procedures are critical to safe and realistic operations.
